wymondley primary school wins south cup challenge series - April 2014Alice Buchanan April 20, 2014 : 0
I recently caught up with my friends at Wymondley Primary and spoke to deputy principal, Aina Masina, to see how they were all getting on. I learned that the school had a recent cause for celebration, which would make the Warriors proud!
In April, a team made up of twelve Wymondley students was victorious in taking home the South Cup Challenge Series winner’s cup. The South Cup Challenge Series is a Rippa Rugby Tournament, organised by the Auckland Rugby Union.
The students, ranging from years four to six, played Te Kura Kaupapa Primary from Otara in the final showdown to end the all day tournament at Aorere Park. Wymondley Primary scored seven tries to two and walked away as the day’s champions.
This win means the team will play the curtain raiser for the Auckland vs Wellington game on the 31st May as part of the Mixed Challenge Cup Final.
I’d like to say congratulations to our friends at Wymondley Primary School; in particular the twelve students pictured. Well done!
Back in February, dtr teamed up with the Vodafone Warriors to deliver 40 Samsung Galaxy tablets to Wymondley Primary School in South Auckland.
We’ll be catching up with Wymondley Primary School again soon to find out how the Samsung Tablets are being used and what other exciting developments have been taking place at this great little Otara primary school!
