Dunedin dtr thanks it's longest loyal customer - August 2013

A Dunedin woman has been acknowledged for being one of the longest customers of dtr. She has been using our services since the 1960s!

Just over 50 years ago, dtr began renting televisions to New Zealanders who couldn’t afford to buy one outright, and Iris was one of them. She believes she began renting in 1965 or 1966 – it’s hard to know exactly when because the computer systems don’t even go back that far.

In early August, a dtr team member went around to fix Iris’s old 21-inch TV and was surprised to discover how long she had been a loyal customer. The team at dtr Dunedin decided they should do something to thank Iris, so they gave her an ex rental 26 inch LCD!

When Dunedin store manager Alan Gray rang Iris to inform her of her gift she was absolutely delighted. Iris says she has been very pleased with the friendly prompt service from dtr, that’s why she has remained a customer for so long. “People ask me why I didn’t just buy a new TV instead of renting all these years, but I love knowing that if anything goes wrong I can just call dtr and they will come and fix it straight away.”

Iris can now enjoy her brand new television and the recognition of being named dtr Dunedin’s most loyal customer, and maybe even in all of New Zealand – if only records could tell!
