Vodafone Warriors enjoy their biggest win in three years! - June 2013Alice Buchanan June 23, 2013 : 0 We couldn’t be prouder of the Vodafone Warriors and their spectacular 56-18 win over the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium last weekend. The 38-point difference is the club’s biggest winning margin in three years and their highest points tally in seven years!
The team’s confidence must have been boosted by their previous 28-12 win against the Newcastle Knights (which also happened to be the dtr match day!). With plenty of Kiwis living in Brisbane there was also no shortage of loyal fans to cheer them on.
Manu Vatuvei was once again the first try scorer of the match, setting the bar nicely after just four minutes. The Broncos looked like they had a chance, evening the score 8-8 after 24 minutes, but it didn’t stay that way for long. The Warriors flew ahead; sitting comfortably on 24-8 points at half-time and locking in 10 glorious tries overall.
No surprises Feleti Mateo was named Fox Sports Man of the Match after three try assists, six tackle breaks and four offloads. It was also Jacob Lillyman’s milestone 150th match and Manu Vatuvei’s 160th proving they only get better with time!
With their first back-to-back wins since July last year, the Vodafone Warriors now have four wins out of the 12 matches, and remain in 14th position on eight points.
The next match will be against Manly at Mount Smart Stadium on Sunday 4.00pm. We’ll see you there!
