dtr match day is good luck for Vodafone Warriors - May 2013Alice Buchanan May 29, 2013 : 0
Sunday marked a triumphant win for the Vodafone Warriors, who beat the Newcastle Knights 28 – 12. The victory signals a comeback for the team, who was facing a losing streak earlier in the season.
Sunday also happened to be our Match Day; the one day of the season where we get to work with the Warriors to entertain the crowd and give away loads of goodies!
To kick-start the game, the Shine Choir – performed by Wymondley Primary School – sang an incredible rendition of Coldplay’s song ‘Fix You’. As some of you may remember, Shine and Wymondley School performed at our match day last year as well, so it was great to see them back again!
As part of our fundraising efforts for Shine, we decided to donate $100 for every point scored by the Warriors during the game. On top of this, we raised a further $1,850 at an auction held in the corporate lounge, bringing the grand total to a whopping $6,317 for the deserving charity.
As well as helping out Shine, we had a number of giveaways for the crowd throughout the day, including dtr branded thundersticks. If fans used their thundersticks during the game, they instantly went in the draw to win one of three Panasonic prize packs.
We also had a text competition running at half-time, which saw one lucky fan take home a Panasonic Max Stereo worth $999! And how could we complete the day without a Zorb race across the field at half time? The four lucky winners from this received an android tablet each.
A big thank you to all who helped make the day a true success. Especially those from our support office and Auckland stores who volunteered to man the dtr Pop Up store for the day.
And of course, well done to the Warriors for the awesome win this weekend. Now let’s just keep it up!
