mobility restored for Hawke's Bay winner - April 2013

Alice Buchanan April 18, 2013 : 0

It’s not often a competition can truly change someone’s life but for local Hastings resident Gwen Nash, our mobility scooter competition has done just that.

Gwen has limited mobility after having an amputation last November, and although she has a wheelchair to get around her rest home, she is completely dependent on others when she is venturing outside.

When Gwen’s daughter Joanne heard that we were running a local Hawke’s Bay competition to restore mobility for one lucky person, she jumped at the opportunity to enter her mum.

Today we were able to provide Gwen with her prize, with a special thanks to Hastings Mayor Lawrence Yule, who was on hand to deliver it personally.

We are delighted by the response from the public, community groups and health professionals in the Hawke’s Bay who helped make the competition a real success. We couldn’t be more delighted to have such a deserving winner in Gwen and we wish her all the best for the future.
