Vodafone Warriors signing a Hamilton hit - February 2013

Friday was a very exciting day for our dtr Hamilton store. Not only was the sun shining in time for the weekend, but also the mighty Vodafone Warriors came to visit!

Around a hundred fans lined up to grab an autograph from some of their favourite players, including: Russell Packer, Suaia Matangi, Nathaniel Peteru, Jerry Seuseu, Stacey Jones and Stevie Rapira. Actually, there was no grabbing, only polite smiles and a whole bunch of happy fans and customers.

This was the first time we’ve had the Warriors in the store and the reaction could not have been better. Our dtr staff thoroughly enjoyed the day; handing out lollies, balloons, key rings and Warriors car flags. Many fans also jumped at the opportunity to enter the draw to win a signed jersey and five signed balls.

Overall it was a very successful day. The feedback from customers was very positive, with many asking when the Warriors would be back!

The boys were in town to take on the Penrith Panthers at Waikato Stadium in a pre-season trial. Unfortunately our wishes of luck weren’t enough as they suffered a loss 32-18 to Perinth. However we’re sure they’re saving the real results for the official kick off to the season in March.

Kiwi fans will get their chance to see the Warriors at home on March 16, in the highly anticipated round two clash against the Sydney Roosters. This will be former All Black and RWC 2011 winner, Sonny Bill William’s, second game in his return to rugby league. It will also be former Warriors player, James Maloney’s, first game against the club.

This Saturday 23 February, the Warriors will be in Dunedin for their final pre-season game against the Broncos. The team will also be taking time to give Dunedin fans their autograph in the dtr Dunedin store, 155 King Edward Street, from 11am-12pm. So if you missed out in Hamilton get on down there!

We can’t wait and wish the boys best of luck for a promising season ahead. See you in Dunedin!
