dtr staff volunteer at Taniwha event - November 2012Mark Spring November 12, 2012 : 0
dtr’s Bek Wall, Lee Trigg and Sia Veamatahau are still recovering after helping out at The Taniwha Waikato River Trails event over the weekend.
The Taniwha is New Zealand’s newest mountain biking and off-road running/walking event, catering to all ages and fitness levels – from an epic 80km mountain bike ride to a more modest 7km run or walk.
With the event kicking off at 8.00am, the dtr team was at the Waikato River Trails as early as 5.30am to help set up and register entrants.
During the event, the weather was spectacular and everyone’s spirits were high – in fact all 850 entrants had smiles on their faces as they finally reached the finish line!
dtr suppliers truly showed their support and generosity for this event, donating some great spot prizes for us to giveaway! Some of the donations included a queen-size bed, bikes, Xbox games, tablets, digital cameras, and family passes to Rainbows End, Kelly Tarltons and the Auckland Zoo. A big thanks to Total Interactive, IGC Dorel NZ Ltd, Arche Technologies, Sleepyhead and JWT for the contributions!
Shine was the charity partner for the event and raised a total of $10,000 through spot prizes, the registration desk, and other donations made on entry. A great result for such a worthy cause!
“The day itself was absolutely stunning and we’ve had fantastic feedback, so for a first event, it was hugely successful. Shine is so grateful for the extraordinary support of dtr and its suppliers for volunteering and donating spot prizes for the event.” – Hilary Lewis, Shine
