Vofaone Junior Warriors year comes to an end - September 2012Mark Spring September 17, 2012 : 0
After a truly fantastic performance in this year’s Toyota Cup competition, the Vodafone Junior Warriors quest for the premiership sadly came to an end last night, going down to the Sydney Roosters in their quarterfinal match, 10-26.
After finishing the season equal top of the table with the Bulldogs, the boys faced a hungry team of Roosters who came to the ANZ Stadium clearly intending to break the Warriors’ streak of eight straight wins at the ground.
There’s no doubt it was a tough match, and the boys managed to get possession at several critical moments early on, which eventually saw the scores locked level at 10-10 at halftime.
But unfortunately, at the end of the day, the intensity wasn’t enough to keep alive their hope of finally hoisting the Cup aloft in 2012.
Still, it’s been a season marked by some remarkable competitions, proven by the record of 17 wins and only six losses and one draw in the whole season, so congratulations are certainly due to the boys for making it so close to the top.
As a team sponsor, there have been plenty of highlights for dtr this year. We appreciated the support that the team gave us for our fundraising efforts for charity Shine at our Game Day this year.
It was also great to have Junior Warriors prop Ligi Sao join our staff team this year as an intern with our marketing and finance department. Now that he’s headed off to Sydney to play for the Sea Eagles, we wish him all the best for his next adventure.
The achievements of 2012 are already giving the team hope for another solid run at the championship in 2013. The Junior Warriors can be sure that dtr will be right behind them all the way, and cheering loudly at every game next season!
Well done boys, and we’ll see you again next year!
