The boys did it again this weekend, winning against the Canberra Raiders in their 26th-round match at Mount Smart Stadium on Sunday.

By halftime, the Vodafone Junior Warriors were leading 16-0. Nevertheless the Raiders fought hard for the win in the second half, picking themselves up (though too little too late as they still lost 26-12).

Mason Lino stood out from the crowd by successfully converting three of the five tries scored during the game.

Sunday’s win places the Vodafone Junior Warriors at the top of the table, right next to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. Both squads now have 39 points with identical records – 17 wins, a draw and six losses.

This will be the Vodafone Junior Warriors’ fifth season in the NYC finals – in fact, they’re the only squad to achieve this five times in a row, so well done boys!

We at dtr will have our eyes glued to our TV screens this weekend when the Vodafone Junior Warriors and Raiders meet up again for the first week of the finals. Sky Sport 2 will be playing the match live at 3.30pm (NZ time) Sunday 9 September.

Meanwhile, the Vodafone Warriors’ season has come to an end, having lost 42-22 to the Raiders, despite leading 22-6 at halftime. Oh well, better luck next time guys!
