great turnout for 'Round The Bays' - March 2012

Mark Spring March 19, 2012 : 0

How many 50-year-olds do you know who’d run around Auckland’s waterfront to celebrate their birthday. We did!

Funnily enough, thousands of other Aucklanders had the same idea on the same day. Something to do with an event called Round the Bays, I think.

Good thing we had our Round the Bays 2012 shirts on with our new 50th birthday logo across it. Otherwise we might have disappeared in the melee.

Some of our people met up at the start line and walked or ran in groups – many with their kids. Some of the sportier amongst us did it solo. Congratulations to Carson Leung who set the lung-busting, leg-jellifying time of just 55 minutes. Congrats also to dtr team member Sia’s fiancée Andrew, who zipped through the course even faster than Carson.

But the biggest raps go to Emma, and Idele Davies and her family (Bradley, Connor, Ross and Braedan) who organised the post-match BBQ – and even managed to convince the weather gods to keep the rain away until the evening. Awesome work, guys!
