Dunedin store grand opening, a great success - March 2012Alice Buchanan March 12, 2012 : 0
All hands were on deck last week with the Grand Opening of the new Dunedin store.
To celebrate the new South Dunedin premises, we held a six-day event, full of daily deals and a free BBQ for customers to enjoy. We also had dtr staff from all over New Zealand come down to provide a few extra hands for the launch.
To add to the week’s madness, we involved popular radio station, The Rock, to entertain customers in and around the store by giving away 30 prizes each day through a ‘Spin To Win’ competition. Prizes included MP3 players, alarm clocks, iPod docks, Blu-Ray DVD players, signed Warriors gear and a Samsung Galaxy II smartphone.
We also had dtr staff walking through the community and visiting local businesses, driving awareness about the new store by handing out entries to win the Haier Double Door Fridge Freezer we had on offer.
Overall, the launch was a great success with hundreds of people walking through the doors during the week. Sales seem to be well ahead of budget as well which can’t be a bad thing!
dtr Store Manager, Alan Gray says the store itself – a former bookshop – is bigger, brighter and much more accessible than the previous location, with free parking right outside for customers.
We had been in our old site for about 10 years and with the introduction of parking meters in the city, customers were prohibited from coming in to catch up on our latest deals or even just for a quick chat. So these new premises have truly been a breath of fresh air for us.
Something that is worth a mention is the amount of local support and compliments about the store fit-out and what it has done for South Dunedin as it goes through resurgence. This is great feedback and we hope to see the positivity continue.
