The annual Vodafone Warriors ‘One Community’ Charity Golf Day was held this month.

As the defending champions, we were amped and ready to go with a team that included Commercial Manager Richard Sexton, Regional Manager Heath Brown, Credit Manager Kruger Wetere and Installer Isaia Leofo. Plus we had a secret weapon – Warriors player, Bill Tupou. However, luck was not on our side this year unfortunately, and the team only managed to scrape in at fourth place.

The tournament marked the start of a new NRL season for the Warriors, and was attended by the team, sponsors, and team supporters. Many of the players were drawn to play for teams while others helped on the course and around the club house.

Following a day of golf, we all came together to enjoy a friendly auction to finish off the day.As a company, we were pleased to contribute a 55-inch Sony television, which ended up selling for $1,500.All proceeds from the day went to domestic abuse charity, Shine.

Shine aims to stop family violence in New Zealand, and keep children safe in their homes. Funds raised from the day will be used for their safe@home programme, which provides safety planning guidance, window and door locks, security lighting and silent alarm systems for families in need.Overall it was a great day with a real sense of family; the Vodafone Warriors family.Have a great season guys!
