From start to finish, the Wanganui store took less than four weeks to be transformed from a dark and uninviting space to what it is today – a light, welcoming and relaxing store that customers really enjoy being in. There is now just one more of our 22-store network to be refurbished. It’s been a long road, but we’re almost there!
In terms of Wanganui, the team has had so much positive feedback from existing and new customers and the store frontage is now bright and appealing and really grabs people’s attention. It’s no surprise that we have a lot more foot traffic as people can see in to the store through our large windows and double doors.
The opening itself was really exciting for us all with plenty of new faces in store. The ‘Opening Week Deals’ and daily sausage sizzles were huge drawcards, as was the free Double Door Haier Fridge Freezer we were giving away (thanks Haier). Tuesday and Friday drew in the crowds when we played ‘Spin to Win’, giving away some fabulous prices kindly given to us by our suppliers. Thanks to MoreFM (who were live in-store), and a great advertising campaign, our phones were ringing hot with people who had heard our radio ads or seen our spread in the local paper.
By the end of the month, our opening will have generated a huge amount of new business, which will start paying back the big investment in the fit-out. In addition, it’s great for our staff to have such a refreshing space to work in and will certainly help keep up the high standards they have set themselves.
